Terms of Service
Last updated October 20, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Tux Photo LLC, doing business as KeyGrant ("KeyGrant", "we"), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA. They cover keygrant.dev, the dashboard, the API at api.keygrant.dev and the customer portal (together, "the service"). By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you use KeyGrant for a company, you confirm you can agree on its behalf.
1. The service
KeyGrant issues and checks license keys for software you sell: products, keys, devices, trials, payments sync, and email to your customers. The SDKs and the command line tool are open source under the MIT License, which governs your use of them. These terms govern the hosted service they talk to.
2. Your account
- Give us accurate details, and keep your password and API keys secret.
- You are responsible for what happens in your account, including what your team members do.
- Tell us at [email protected] if you think your account has been misused.
3. Plans and billing
- The plans, their prices and their limits are on the pricing page. The Free plan costs nothing. Paid plans are billed monthly through Stripe.
- We take no share of your sales. Your customers pay you through your own payment provider.
- When you reach your plan's limit, keys you issue by hand, over the API or by import are refused until you upgrade or free up licenses. Keys you already issued keep working, and sales through your checkout still get their keys.
- One plan covers every tenant you own, and its limits count across all of them: active licenses and products in every tenant add up. The plan is paid on one tenant and covers the rest; if more than one of your tenants pays, the best plan covers them all and you can cancel the others. Tenants you co-own with someone else count too: they share your plan and its limits. When you reach the product limit, a new product is refused until you upgrade or delete one.
- You can change or cancel your plan any time from the Billing tab. When a paid subscription ends, your account moves to the Free plan.
- Plan fees are not refunded, except where the law requires it.
- If we change a plan's price, the new price applies from your next billing period after we tell you.
4. Your data and your customers
- Your data stays yours, and so do your customers' records. You let us store and process them only to run the service for you, as our Privacy Policy describes.
- You are responsible for your products, your own license terms with your customers, and having the right to give us their details and to have us email them for you.
- If you connect your Stripe account, you let us read your sales through it to issue keys, and, when you ask from the dashboard, issue refunds or archive prices on it.
- If you link your Paddle account, you give us an API key for it. We use the key to read your sales through it to issue keys, to set up the notifications Paddle sends us, and, when you ask from the dashboard, to request refunds or archive prices on it. You can replace or unlink the key at any time.
5. Acceptable use
Don't use KeyGrant to:
- break the law, or license software that is malware or that you have no right to sell;
- send email your customers did not ask for;
- get around the service's rate limits or plan limits, or reach other accounts' data;
- overload, attack or disrupt the service.
We may suspend or close an account that does these things.
6. Ending the agreement
You can stop using KeyGrant any time. An owner can delete the company from the dashboard's Business settings, which deletes its data as the Privacy Policy describes; on a paid plan, cancel the plan in the Billing tab first. We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms or don't pay. Once an account is closed, KeyGrant stops verifying its license keys. An app keeps running until its current lease ends.
7. No warranty
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT PROMISE THAT IT WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE.
8. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ABOUT THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO WHAT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM. WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS OR SALES.
9. Changes
We may update these terms. The current version is always on this page, with its date at the top. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you by email before it takes effect.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, USA.
